Installing

Three steps and you are running

Run the installer

Open the downloaded PortableVideoCompressor-2.0-Setup.exe. Windows SmartScreen may warn on a freshly downloaded installer; a checksum will be published here so you can verify your download first. Using the portable ZIP instead? Extract it anywhere and run PortableVideoCompressor.exe.

Choose portable or system

Portable keeps the whole app in one folder you can move or run from a USB drive, with nothing left on your system. A system install adds a Start Menu shortcut and an Add or Remove Programs entry. Pick whichever suits you.

Launch and compress

On first launch the app briefly probes FFmpeg to detect which encoders work on your machine. A short window may flash; that is normal.

Choosing the portable install? Put its folder somewhere writeable. The app still runs from a read-only location, but it will not save your settings there.

No cost, ever
